The Martyrdom of the Sikh Guru Arjan in 1606 (27 May)

Guru Arjan (1563-1606) the fifth of the ten gurus of the Sikh religion, died from torture on 27 May 1606. Guru Arjan founded the temple at Amritsar, where the Golden Temple now stands. He also compiled the Sikh holy book, the Guru Granth Sahib.
