A Prayer for those who face the
perils of the sea
Individual children, or groups of
children, might say one of these phrases or provide a suitable phrase of
their own:
We pray especially today for all those who work at
sea: For those who fish the waters of the deep; For the crews
of submarines and other naval vessels; For those who staff the oil
rigs or bring oil to our shores in tankers; For pilots who guide
ships into harbour; For those who work on ferries; And for
those who seek the challenge of the sea, sailing yachts round the world,
or facing the waves in tiny craft; And we give thanks today for the
men and women who risk their lives when others are in peril - those who
set out to sea in lifeboats.
A very short prayer
Dear
lord, teach us so to care for others that we may cheerfully work for
their good and strive to help them when they are in need. |
To be sung to the tune of "What
shall we do with the drunken sailor"
What can be done
for the sinking vessel What can be done for the sinking vessel
What can be done for the sinking vessel Early in the morning
Call
up the crew and launch the lifeboat Call up the crew and launch the
lifeboat Call up the crew and launch the lifeboat Early in the
morning
Thank the lord for the lifeboat service Thank the
lord for the lifeboat service Thank the lord for the lifeboat
service Every night and morning
