The stained glass window in St Martin's Emmaus, Dover

"The Kiss" by Steve Roche is situated in the coffee shop at St Martin's Emmaus Community in Dover. Steve, who lives and works at the Community, has been designing and teaching stained glass techniques for over 30 years. The window reflects his Scottish roots; it is based on a design by Margaret Macdonald Mackintosh, whose work became one of the defining features of "Glasgow style" during the 1890's, featuring elongated contours and symbolism.

St Martin's Emmaus is a Community where previously homeless people live and work, refurbishing and re-selling donated furniture. The Community's coffee shop and shop, which sells second hand furniture and household goods, are open to the public. There are 13 Emmaus Communities in the UK. Find out more about Emmaus
