It seems that there has always been bullying. It occurs within families, amongst peers, and in the workplace. But it is wrong. At the least it causes stress and suffering. At the worst it can destroy a person's life. All schools should have a clear policy on bullying, endorsed by their governors and fully known by teachers, pupils and parents. Teachers can play an important role in creating an ethos where pupils learn to treat each other with respect and where bullying is recognised as wholly unacceptable.
