| Let us pray for those whose work is with words: For all who teach, that their words may quicken the minds and inspire the spirits of those entrusted to their care; For poets, playwrights and novelists (like Dickens), that their words may promote joy in the endless diversity of the world and an understanding of the nature and needs of humankind; For politicians, that they mat shun the glib and deceitful rhetoric that wins only momentary praise, and be guided instead to frank and direct utterances; For all who work in the media today, for newspapers, radio and television, that they may seek to communicate justly, fearlessly and without bias; For all who work within the many different churches, chapels or temples, that their words may bring people nearer to one another and to the divine. Amen |
