The Hibbert Assembly
Charles Dickens (1812-1870)

dream.jpg
Charles Dickens, one of the most popular of all novelists, was born on 7 February 1812. As well as having a highly original creative talent, Dickens had a keen social conscience. His books evoke sympathy for those with disabilities, like Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol, and for the outcasts, like Joe, the crossing-sweeper in Bleak House, and the misjudged, like Stephen Blackpool in Hard Times.
